About our childcare McNicoll Avenue Child Care Program (MACCP) was formed in 1985 as a non-profit, community based child care centre. A provincial license was granted in August 1985, under The Day Nurseries Act. McNicoll Avenue Child Care Program also meets the operating criteria of Toronto Children Services. Philosophy The MACCP places an emphasis on the development of the child as a member of a group, yet recognizes that each child is unique. It respects the individual differences in the social, emotional, intellectual, physical and cultural backgrounds of our children and their families. We provide a warm, stimulating learning environment that encourages the child to socialize while understanding that each individual child needs to play and learn at his/her own developmental level. Our schedules, expectations and routines are consistent and realistic. About our teachers All of our teachers are trained in Early Childhood Education and Hanan Language Program. The staff is certified annually in Child CPR and First Aid training. Professional development is provided for the staff throughout the year, the goal being to enhance the current teaching skills of our staff. Our staff has experience and training in proper guidance methods suited for the ages of the children in the program.
